Arm Lift

Introduction

Many people, particularly after having loss weight, have an excess of loose skin on the upper arm. This can lead to constant chafing of the redundant skin, which can result in irritation and infection The Arm Lift, also known as the brachioplasty, removes this excess and gives yours arms a younger, toned and impressively contoured appearance.

Procedure

The brachioplasty involves an incision along the back or inside of the arm, extending from the elbow to underarm. The underlying supportive tissue is tightened and reshaped with internal sutures, and finally the skin is smoothed over the new contour.

Recovery

An Arm Lift procedure will normally take 2 hours and requires one overnight stay in hospital. Most patients will experience a little soreness and tightness in their upper arm for up to 7-10 days.

Post-Operative Care

A compression bandage is normally worn after the procedure to prevent swelling and facilitate shrinking of the tissue.

Benefits

  • Eradicated chapping and discomfort caused by excess skin rubbing together.
  • Skin made firmer and improved shape of the body.
  • Improves texture of skin, making body appear more youthful.

Is this right for me?

The arm lift is particularly suited to those who have an excess of skin on their arms after losing a significant amount of weight. The problem is not to be confused with excessive fat in the arms, which can be treated with liposuction - a procedure that does not leave the same degree of scarring.

Things to consider

It is important that you carefully consider any cosmetic surgery procedure. Your surgeon will be pleased to answer any questions during your consultation and leading up to the procedure. Candidates should ensure that they have adequate time and space to recover from the operation.

What are the risks?

The Arm Lift is a very safe procedure, but as with all cosmetic surgery there is a small risk of problems such as infection or loss of sensation arising. Speak with our medical staff regarding any fears or apprehensions you may have.

Questions to ask your doctor

  • What kind of scarring will there be?
  • Are there before and after pictures available?
  • When will I be able to return to work?

Preparing for the procedure

A healthy diet will contribute to a quicker healing process.
