What are Fillers?
Wrinkle filling injections are typically used to fill lines and improve contours around the nose and mouth. They can also be used to add volume to the cheeks, jaw line and much more.
Our highly qualified consultant plastic surgeons and registered general nurses stay abreast of the most current products available and will recommend the most suitable treatment for each patient. During a detailed consultation with your specialist nurse where you, the patient can discuss your concerns regarding the area in full so that we can ensure the treatment is expertly tailored to your needs.
Important questions to ask during your consultation for dermal fillers:
• What filler and how much of it is recommended?
• Who will do the treatment and how many treatments have they done in the past?
• How long with the treatment take?
• Will it be sore?
• What will the area look like immediately after the treatment?
• What are the risks associated with the treatment?
• How long can is expect the results of the treatment to last?.
Dermal fillers are substances that are injected just below the surface of the skin to replenish the supporting elements, filling lines, wrinkles and scars from the inside out. Dermal fillers can restore a smoother, fuller and a fresh youthful appearance. Dermal fillers are very popular with our patients as results are seen immediately and risks with the treatment are relatively low.
What is the procedure?
The treatment itself involves injections of a gel like product into the skin using a very fine needle and is considered by most patients not to be terribly painful. Results after the treatment are seen immediately.
What products are offered?
River Medical offers an extensive selection of effective fillers, which are used to treat wrinkles and lines of the lower half of the face, as well as for lip augmentation including Restylane, Radiesse and Sculptra. Due to advances and developments in the area of dermal fillers, we are constantly expanding the range of fillers that we can offer to patients, whilst ensuring that any new product that we introduce into the clinic has an excellent safety profile with relevant research behind it to maintain the safest standards for our patients.
These products fill up the groove that produces the wrinkle, resulting in a smoother, younger appearance without the need for surgery.
How long does a filler last?
Results usually last from four months to
three years depending mainly on what type of product is used.
Usually one treatment every six months is adequate to keep
these lines at bay.
Sculptra
As we age our skin looses its elasticity; this is mainly because collagen production within the skin begins to slow. When Sculptra is injected into the skin, it stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen. The new collagen creates volume to correct signs of facial ageing; this in turn will produce a long lasting natural and youthful look. Generally a course of three treatments is required. Results are not seen immediately but when they do appear (6 weeks after first treatment) they last for up to three years!
At your consultation one of our specialist nurses will talk you through your concerns to ensure that sculptra is the best option for you. All aspects of the treatment and what to expect before during and after the treatments explained in full at your initial FREE consultation
Which product should I go for?
Every patient is different and your nurse will explain further what treatment plan is best for you, exactly what the treatment entails and what to expect before, during and after any of these procedures
What are the risks?
Fillers and Sculptra are safe procedures, with redness, swelling, or bruising at the site of the injection among the most common side effects.Risk and possible side effects will be discussed in full during your consultation with one of our specialist nurses. Speak to our staff about any misgivings that you may have.
Wrinkle Treatments
What are wrinkle relaxing injections?
For those who are concerned about lines and wrinkles on the forehead or the area between the eyes and the base of the nose, as well as crows' feet, then an anti-wrinkle treatment would be the treatment of choice.
How do they work?
Anti-wrinkle injections act as a 'muscle movement inhibitor' for the muscles on your face that cause lines to form. The treatment is safe, painless, and very effective. It leaves no scars or other traces on the face and is performed by a plastic surgeon.
What is the procedure?
The treatment itself involves injection of a product (e.g. Botox) into the skin using a needle as fine as a strand of hair and is considered painless by most patients. You will see an improvement within days and the effect lasts between 3 months and 1 year depending on the product.
What are the risks?
Only the safest and most advanced products are used by our highly trained consultants. As with every procedure however, there are slight risks involved - bruising, swelling and redness being the most common side effects of wrinkle relaxing injections. Speak to our staff regarding any misgivings that you may have.
Course of treatment for Fillers & Wrinkle Treatments
Fillers and wrinkle treatments take approximately 40 minutes to administer and most patients choose to have follow-up treatments every six months after the initial treatment to prevent the reoccurrence of wrinkles. With Sculptra and Radiesse the results can last for a year to three years!
