Labiaplasty

Introduction

Some women can suffer discomfort during intercourse because of larger labia. They can also suffer the embarrassment of the visibility of labia through clothes and irritation to the area due to friction with clothing. Labiaplasty can correct this quickly and discretely.

Procedure

During the procedure, the skin around the vaginal opening is reduced and/or reshaped, according to your needs. Unwanted fatty deposits can also be removed to improve contour.

Recovery

Labial Surgery will normally take 1-1 ½ hours and requires one overnight stay in hospital. You will experience some mild discomfort and swelling for around seven days following surgery.

Post-Operative Care

River Medical offer post-operative support to all our patients, and you will be advised of the actions you can take to relieve any pain and/or discomfort. Your Consultant will advise you as to when you can exercise and have sexual intercourse.

Most clients are able to go back to work after one week.

Benefits

  • Increased self confidence.
  • Enhanced feelings of femininity
  • The ability to wear tighter fitting clothes

Is this right for me?

The procedure is suitable for any woman over 18 who is physically and emotionally healthy and wants to be more comfortable with the shape and feeling of her genitalia.

Things to consider

It is important that you carefully consider any cosmetic surgery procedure. Your consultant surgeon will be pleased to answer any questions during your consultation and leading up to the procedure.

What are the risks?

Although this is a generally safe procedure, there are, as with any surgical procedure, risks involved. Risks associated with labiaplasty include changes in sensation, changes in pigmentation, or asymmetry. You can minimise risk by following pre and post operative advice.

Questions to ask the doctor

  • What results should I expect?
  • What results should I not expect?
  • Am I a good candidate for this surgery?
  • What can I do to aid a swift post-operative recovery?

Preparing for the procedure

You can prepare for your labiaplasty procedure by keeping to a healthy diet, to aid strength and recovery. During your consultation you should inform your cosmetic surgeon if you smoke or take medication and you will be advised accordingly.
