What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic condition, characterised by noticeable facial redness. Spots or pimples can sometimes accompany this redness. Unless it affects the eyes, it is typically a harmless cosmetic condition, but sufferers can feel self-conscious and distressed. Rosacea primarily affects Caucasians of mainly north-western European descent and has hence been nicknamed the ‘curse of the Celts', but it can also affect people of other ethnicities.
Rosacea affects both sexes, and the age of onset generally falls between 30 and 60.
