1. Expect excessive redness? Wrong!

Some of us still picture Samantha in Sex in the City when we hear the word peel! In actual fact immediately after a peel, generally skin will have that same flush you get after a facial. The potent ingredients are doing the hard work in the deeper layers.  The next day you can expect some tightness and from day three you can expect some gentle flaking for up to one week. You can easily mask with moisturiser and foundation / go about your normal activities.
The best advice is not to let the word “peel” put you off. When performed by an experienced practitioner, a peel is a safe way to improve your skin.

  1. A peel is painful? Wrong!

Again a lot of us picture the peels of old but these days you’re talking a little tingling, tightness or some gentle heat but a peel doesn’t hurt! Your Nurse will continuously ask questions to make sure no sensation is too extreme. The more modern and advanced formulas tighten the skin, unclog pores, improve lines and leave skin with a velvet-like texture.

  1. After a peel I’ll have to stay home for a few days? Wrong!

As above you can return to your normal routine immediately! Yes skin can be slightly flushed and we prefer you leave your skin make up free for at least an hour afterwards but there after you’ll just feel some tightness the next day, and experience a little flaking for up to a week. Afterwards your skin is clearer, smoother and brighter.

  1. A peel is only suitable for problem skin? Wrong!

While there are peels that specifically target acne and acne scarring, the most popular use of a peel is for facial skin rejuvenation and getting your glow back! A peel is the perfect treatment for anyone who wants to improve the appearance of their skin.

  1. What makes our peels different?

At River Medical we use Image Skincare’s, medical grade facial peels; a more advanced and effective type of peel which can only be administered by a Nurse. Not only are the results more effective but you can rest assured you are in the safest possible hands when being treated by one of our Nurses.

Our skin cells turn over and build up every 28-40 days (depending on age), therefore a resurfacing treatment is recommended every month to six weeks for optimum skin health.
Also our patients take home a complimentary pack with a cleanser, illuminating serum, SPF50, a little tube of the Max Stem cell night cream and vitamin c mask to be applied on day 5. What's not to love! Click below to book your free consultation or give us a call on 01 6629106.
