An arm lift or “brachioplasty” is a surgical procedure that reduces excess sagging skin, tightens and smoothes the underlying supportive tissue that defines the shape of the upper arm and reduces localised pockets of fat in the upper arm area. Fluctuations in weight, the ageing process, as well as heredity can all contribute to the upper arms taking on that drooping, sagging appearance. A key aspect of preparing for any cosmetic surgery procedure is that your Surgeon understands your desires and expectations. At your initial consultation, your Consultant will explain the procedure in great detail, discuss your expectations and what he/she can achieve for you, ensuring you have realistic expectations of the results. Your Surgeon will also want to evaluate your current physical health and health history, ensuring you are a suitable candidate for surgery. Because this is an elective procedure, you and your Surgeon will naturally carefully discuss the benefits and risks involved, as is the case with any surgical procedure.-

Typically you will stay overnight in hospital after your procedure. You will need someone to take you home when you are discharged by the Surgeon as you will not be able to drive. You can expect to experience some discomfort. Your Surgeon will tell you more about the typical recovery process and may make recommendations based on your individual case but by and large expect to take between 5-10 days off work. If your job is physical you may require more time. Everyone recovers differently but you can rest assured that we will monitor you closely to ensure the swiftest, safest and most comfortable recovery.-

Trust, experience and aftercare are absolutely key, and River Medical is widely recognised as the industry leader in Ireland. We are also proud to say that we adhere to the strictest of ethical guidelines and believe that only highly trained medical staff should advise on cosmetic procedures - be it surgical or non-surgical.

  • Who will I meet at my initial consultation?+-

You will meet with one of our Consultant Plastic Surgeons who will discuss every aspect of your arm lift with you. This includes your expectations and desires, the procedure and the best type of procedure for you and the results as well as any possible eventualities.

  • What is the recovery time like?+-

You will need to take 5 to 10 days off after your surgery. If your job is physical you may require more time. Everyone recovers differently but you can rest assured that we will monitor you closely to ensure the swiftest, safest and most comfortable recovery.

  • Am I a suitable candidate?+-

Your Consultant will assess your suitability and will recommend the best treatment for you at your free consultation.

  • How should I prepare for my procedure?+-

Preparation will begin with an initial consultation with your Consultant Plastic Surgeon, followed by a meeting with one of our Registered General Nurses. Each one will go through every aspect of the surgery in great detail. Prior to surgery you will return for a further comprehensive pre-operative assessment with your River Medical Nurse. You should always receive FREE and unlimited aftercare post surgery. Furthermore your Consultant Plastic Surgeon should be a resident here in Ireland so should you need to see him/her in the weeks after surgery - he/she is available to you. We are widely regarded as being the industry leader in Ireland, specialising in the most comprehensive range of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures. At River Medical, we never compromise on the level of care and attention we give each and every one of our patients, every time, and we are committed to you from procedure right through to your 24/7, lifelong aftercare.

  • Why do you not have before and after pictures on your website?+-

Before and after pictures on websites can be misleading as they may not be patients of the surgeon who will be carrying out your surgery. As every person has completely different expectations and different treatment requirements, it is a much more valuable tool for your Consultant to show pictures of not only surgeries that he/she has carried out but also show you results you will be likely to achieve.

Testimonials

I’ve covered up my arms for as long as I can remember. I had loose, flabby, sagging bingo wings, particularly after losing some weight. After hearing about the treatment I went for a consultation and knew it was something I wanted to do. After the surgery my arms felt stiff and a bit sore for about a week. When I went back to River Medical to get the bandages off I couldn’t believe the results. I am so proud on my arms and I show them off every weekend at the dance!
