Introduction
After weight loss, pregnancy, or just over time, excess fatty tissue or skin can accumulate which can be uncomfortable and restrictive to lifestyle and confidence. A Tummy Tuck will remove this tissue and restore muscular tone.
Procedure
Abdominoplasty, usually known as the Tummy Tuck, is the surgical removal of excess skin and fatty tissue through an incision which extends across the abdomen. The incision is limited to the bikini area, and usually goes hip-to-hip. In most cases, weakened or separated muscles are strengthened creating a firmer, smoother abdominal profile.
Recovery
This procedure takes 3.5 to 4 hours, and requires either a one or two-night stay in hospital. Most clients return to work after a fortnight.
Post-Operative Care
River Medical offer post-operative support to all our patients, and you will be advised of the actions you can take to relieve any pain and/or discomfort .You may experience soreness and a swelled abdomen for a few days after the procedure. This can be controlled using medication. Some bruising may occur. A light support garment is worn following the procedure, and rest is advised. After about two weeks, exercises can be done to tone muscles and speed recovery.
Benefits
- A toned, firm abdominal profile
- Increased confidence
- Improved appearance in swimwear and underwear
- Smoothing of stretch marks and old scars

Testimonials
"After I lost a lot of weight I had quite a bit of excess skin left over that wouldn't shrink or tighten back up. I didn't feel great about myself anymore and it really started to eat away at any self confidence I had left, so I decided to get a tummy tuck. At first I was really nervous and embarrassed because men hadn't really been known to get this type of surgery. I had put off several consultations until I finally decided I couldn't put it off any more. So I went to River Medical and once I got there they really pout me at ease and took care of me. I didn't have to worry about a thing and the aftercare was unbelievable. After the surgery I was quite sore and swollen but that stopped after a few days and I could see almost straight away how much flatter my stomach was and I was delighted. It was the best decision I ever made. The aftercare was really quite surprising, I though once the surgery was done I wouldn't have much contact but the team at River Medical were great about answering any questions I had , all I had to do was call. There was also two post op checks quite soon afterwards and everyone I seen was great and delighted with how well I had healed.
Thanks a lot Team," - Karl, Age 26
